What a wonderful day it was last Friday! Almost 500 people attended the symposium and about 800 people listened to my inaugural lecture. I also heard that many people who could not attend want to look at it afterwards. The inaugural speech is online and can be viewed together with the English translation here, We have truly celebrated that we have realised this first chair in Midwifery Science together that is held by a Dutch midwife. A celebration for all of us! Midwives, other professional groups in maternity care, researchers, lecturers, but first and foremost for women and their families.
Many thanks to everybody who has contributed to this day. It is impossible to thank everybody in person. Many thanks for all the kind and beautiful words via email, the online book, via social media, and via telephone. In spite of the Covid restrictions, I felt that many people were present and I felt your warm support.
Thank you for the flowers, books and other beautiful presents and for all the gifts to the Awinbono foundation. People from this foundation and in Ghana would like to say many thanks via this small video.
And now, we will start working together to make this chair successful. I look forward to it!
